Thank you very much for the service provided by your team. We currently have an external project that requires translation and want to deploy the code locally. We would like to ask if it is possible for us to use it for free commercial purposes?
So long as you respect the terms of the license (LibreTranslate/LICENSE at main · LibreTranslate/LibreTranslate · GitHub), yes!
It completely depends on interpretation.
One could argue that if you use a self-hosted LibreTranslate server for your own content translation, you would have to release your whole web framework to GPL licensed source code.
So I’d like some information about that - is this allowed with LibreTranslate?
As far I can see this would be no problem with Gemmas’ license, so if this is not allowed by LibreTranslate, I have to find an alternative. The idea was to use LibreTranslate for fast dispatching the bursts of incoming data, to deliver quasi instant translations of less precision, until it has been final-translated by Gemma running in the background.
Read the license. If there are doubts or something is not clear, you probably need to ask a lawyer (and not here).
